History of the Boys’ Brigade in Singapore: James Milner Fraser started the Boys’ Brigade in Singapore on 12 January 1930; he started 1st Singapore Company at Prinsep Street Presbyterian Church. In 1940, he handed captaincy of the 1st Singapore Company to Mr S P Chua.
The 61st Singapore Company is a Uniformed Group (UG) based in Queensway Secondary School, with Church of Our Saviour as its sponsoring church.
It was founded in 1991 at Sin Ming Residents’ Committee. We started with Mr Victor Aw as Captain and Pastor Peter Teo as Chaplain. The company moved to Queensway Secondary School in 1999. Since then, the company has seen many Boys through their growth and development in their character, leadership and social skills.
